DHATU is a Sanskrit word that represents the balance of elements: earth, wind, water, fire and air. An imbalance of these elements, according to Thai Traditional Medicine, is what causes sickness. For the second episode of FREE WEED, we focus on the link between cannabis and TTM because, after years of draconian laws, the Thai government introduced weed to the people through local medicine, touting the plant’s benefits according to (almost) lost history dating back 300 years ago. We explore this, in a meandering way, trying to capture a plethora of voices with a wallflower perspective. Meet a cancer patient who cured himself, but was unable to conduct clinical tests because of legality, purveyors of modern medicine, and a village medicine man. In DHATU, we dip our toes in cannabis facts and folklore in a meandering form.
